Network Membership Privacy Notice

Your Personal Data

The PREDICT-Meso Network under supervision of University of Glasgow will be what is known as the ‘Data Controller’ of your personal data processed in relation to PREDICT-Meso Network membership. This privacy notice will explain how the Network will process your personal data.

Why we need it

We are collecting your basic personal data such as name, title, institute, email address/contact details and research interests, in order to add you to the official PREDICT-Meso Network members list and allow Network member benefits such as: contact and collaboration from the PREDICT-Meso team; to allow you to use the PREDICT-Meso name on applications; access the tissue and data of the PREDICT-Meso Network.

Your basic information will be listed on the PREDICT-Meso website to externally demonstrate your membership to the network and to allow for effective collaboration requests from those interested in mesothelioma research and your area of expertise.Network members may choose to have contact information remain confidential (not published on the website and held locally by the PREDICT-Meso PM) and have contact for potential collaborations made via introduction by the Network PM or PI. In this case, only name, title, institute, and research interests will be published on the website.

We are also collecting basic, generic, non-identifying information on the types of data you have that may benefit the Network for the PREDICT-Meso Network Inventory. This information will be held locally by the PREDICT-Meso PM and will NOT be published on the website or available to other Network members without your prior approval.

Legal basis for processing your data

We must have a legal basis for processing all personal data. In this instance, the legal basis is a Contract – you are signing up to receive a service, and the Network needs your details to provide that service.

If details are not provided, we cannot contact you or deem you a member of the Network, and you cannot apply for tissue and data access from the Network or use the PREDICT-Meso name on applications.

What we do with it and who we share it with?

All the personal data you submit is processed by the PREDICT-Meso PM at the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom. As noted above your basic information will be listed on the PREDICT-Meso website.

Personal data shared on an open website is regarded as being shared worldwide.
How long do we keep it for?

Your data will be retained by the University for the duration of the PREDICT-Meso project (until 2025). After this time, data will be securely deleted, unless there is a continuation in PREDICT-Meso project funding. Membership be reviewed and re-confirmed at the start of every project year.

What are your rights?

You may actively withdraw at any time and have your information removed from the website by contacting the PREDICT-Meso at PREDICT-Meso@glasgow.ac.uk
If at any point you believe that the information we process relating to you is incorrect, you can request to see this information and may in some instances request to have it restricted, corrected or, erased.

Complaints

If you wish to raise a complaint on how we have handled your personal data, you can contact the University Data Protection Officer who will investigate the matter- dataprotectionofficer@glasgow.ac.uk

If you are not satisfied with our response or believe we are not processing your personal data in accordance with the law, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) https://ico.org.uk/
